I often think about what exactly it is that draws me into the universe of anime, and i’ve managed to come up with a couple of ideas. Firstly these stories are often set in other worlds with strange creatures and bizarre happenings that you just don’t see in other tv shows. The reason behind this I believe is that without a top 3D animation crew working 24 hours a day a company would never be able to come up with believable worlds or characters. If they did however decide to that they could pull it off without effects, it would just turn out as another weird sci-fi show that no one would watch. That being said I’m excited to see what the Dragonball Z movie turns out like, cause I’m sure they have a great animation team on board and with Stephen Chow on board how could it go wrong (Touch wood).
My second thought is that the Japanese language and culture have a massive effect on me. We are constantly bombarded with American shows that eventually seem to be all the same. Let me just say i’m in no way trying to bad mouth American tv, I think many of the shows are brilliant but you gotta admit there is a lot of stuff that’s pretty all pretty similar forcing “Americanism” down your throat. Anime seems to bring you to a new place, a place where everything seems a little different, dare i say more exciting.
My third point is that anime depicts violence in a way that you only could with animation. Some scenes that I’ve come across would really struggle to make it past who ever it is that censors Television shows. I’m not some kind of psycho who get a rush from killing things, just like a little violence in TV thats all.
Well I guess thats all I got for now, Ohh and I’ve always seemed to enjoy animated shows to real ones. Heh..

I’ve never been one to appreciate art. I can look at it for awhile but i’m never blown away. I’m not trying to belittle artists at all, if any thing i have masses of respect for them it’s just that “classic” art I find kind of dull and pointless. Then when i open a manga i’m blown away by the drawings, the shadowing and the attention to detail astound me, and then anime is almost like moving art, to me it’s as if Van Gogh has individually painted each frame.
It’s strange how different people view the world, and derive pleasure from so many different facets of life. I sometimes laugh at people for their tastes, but it’s all it good fun cause i know millions of people out there are laughing at me.
I guess art truly is in the eye of the beholder.
